I know that it has been done a lot, but I am still obsessed with BOWS. They are so cute and especially as accessories they hardly have any competition. I use them almost every day in my hair. To bring a bit more variety into my bows, I decided to make my own. It is a great project to use scrap fabric. I used some left over Pajama and lining fabric from earlier projects.
Here is what you will need:
- A rectangle piece of fabric
- Scissors
- Needle and thread
First you cut a small piece off your fabric rectangle and put it to the side. This will be the center of the bow later.
Then you fold the two long sides together so that they overlap just a little bit in the middle. If you want to you can trim the short sides. You do not have to!
Now fold the short sides together, again let the fabric overlap just a little bit.
IMPORTANT: The fold has to be in the center.
Use a running stitch to stitch the layers together. Pull a little bit to get the shape of a bow, take the little piece you cut off in the beginning and wrap it around the center of the bow. Sow the ends together and then attach the middle piece to the bow with one stitch.
After that you have a perfect little bow. Since I used my dinosaur fabric, I added a T-Rex button to the center to make it even cuter.
It takes about 5 minutes to make a bow. You can make them in all sizes (just make your rectangles bigger or smaller). It is very easy to attach them to hair clips, bobby pins, security pins or gift wrap.
I hope you have fun making some cute bows!
I first read this as you were obsessed with BOWLS! Haha the bows are much cuter and look surprisingly easy. I think I'll have to try that.
ReplyDeleteIt is very easy!
ReplyDeleteMaybe I'll find a cute tutorial for some bowls :)
Have fun making the bows, let me know how they turn out!
