DIY - Valentine's Day I

I know I know, it is a long way until Valentine's Day BUT this year I have my first real Valentine. I wasn't really excited about it, since I believe that you should tell your loved ones how much you love them every day. But my boyfriend got really excited and the excitement rubbed off. So I started gathering ideas for cute DIY presents. I decided on the following two projects:

1. Homemade Hot Chocolate Spoons
2. Self Made Scratch-Off Lottery Tickets

Hot Chocolate Spoons

Ingredients for ten spoons:
8 oz dark chocolate
3.5 tbsp cacao powder
2/3 cup icing sugar/ powdered sugar
chocolate or valentine's sprinkles
10 small wooden spoons
1 ice cube tray/ molding chocolate form ( I found a little hearts chocolate molding form at Michael's)

Preparation:
1. Chop chocolate and melt over water bath, stirring occasionally.
2. Stir cocoa powder and powdered sugar into melted chocolate.
3. Rub mold/ ice cube tray with olive oil
4. Fill into mold/ ice cube tray and stick in the spoons. If you want to put on decoration do that now.
5. Let chocolate cool at room temperature.
6. Remove from mold/ice cube trays.

TIP: If you have a hard time removing the chocolate cubes from your mold/tray you can quickly dip the mold into hot water.

After you are all done, you can wrap the chocolate up nicely and give them to your loved ones. I am actually going to attach one of the Scratch-Off Lottery Tickets to every Hot Chocolate Spoon.

The tutorial for the scratch-off lottery tickets will be in one of my next posts closer to Valentine's Day. So make sure and come back to check it out. They'll be extremely cute!
